Yeah, it has been rewritten to be entirely HTML/JS based + YQL rather than using Python as the backend. Thus the lack of anything to do with GAE or Python in the current code base.

Hmmm… I don't see anything in your code that has anything to do with Python or GAE specific issue… all you could need is some 2$ hosting environment … Not sure what is it that's not snappy about GAE or Python?
