VMWare Virtual Server is GA and Free


I had tried the Beta but now it has been released. I decided to blog about it only because of how ubiquitous virtualization has become.

This morning I added another hard drive and more memory to my 1U server at my colo in order to give it enough umph to install VMWare on it and make some use of it. Now I'm at home configuring new machines. In order to do that I need to use the VMWare Console which only runs on Linux and Windows. I use a MacBook Pro. So I am currently running Windows XP SP2 in a Parallels Virtual machine on my MB to run the console that lets me configure and boot virtual machines on a server that I'm accessing over the internet.

Now I've just got to figure out the best way to configure the network.
